Excavation Contractors in Philadelphia
Excavation is the part nobody sees and everything sits on. APS handles excavation across Philadelphia, Bucks County, and Montgomery County, site prep, foundation and basement digs, drainage, and grading. Get it wrong and the foundation, the slab, and everything above it pays for it later. We dig to the right depth, grade it to drain, and compact it so what goes on top stays put. Licensed and insured since 2017 (PA #139378).

Excavation Done Right the First Time
Most foundation and drainage problems trace back to the dig. A footing that didn't reach below the frost line heaves in winter. A site that wasn't graded to drain sends water straight at the foundation. Backfill that wasn't compacted settles and cracks the slab above it. We dig to the right depth, compact as we go, and grade so water runs away from the structure, because fixing it after the concrete is poured costs far more than doing it right the first time.

Excavation FAQs
-
What does an excavation contractor do?
Site prep, digging for foundations and basements, trenching for drainage, grading, compaction, and demolition. Basically everything that has to happen underground before the visible work starts.
-
How much does excavation cost in Philadelphia?
It depends on the depth, the access to the site, the soil and any rock, and how much haul-away is involved. We look at the site and give you a written estimate that matches the real job.
-
Do you excavate for foundations and additions?
Yes. We dig to proper depth for new foundations, additions, garages, and footings, and because we also pour concrete, the excavation is scoped for the foundation that follows.
-
Can you dig out or lower a basement?
Yes. We dig out and lower basement floors for real headroom, done with underpinning so the foundation stays sound, which is often the first step to finishing the space.
-
Do you handle drainage and grading problems?
Yes. We trench for drains and regrade so water runs away from the house instead of toward it, which is often the fix for a chronically wet basement or yard.
-
Do you call for utility marks and permits?
Always. We call PA One Call for utility marks and pull the required permits before we dig. It's not optional, and it keeps everyone safe.
